The Three Salmons is delighted to announce that we are able to offer to four lucky fisherman the chance to fish alongside a World Championship competitor this May.

Kim Tribe will be competing in this year's World Fly Fishing Championships in New Zealand and then returning to tutor and guide you round the River Usk, one of the best Wild Brown Trout rivers in the UK.

The price for the two day package will be £395 per person, inc VAT and include two nights B&B, packed lunches, fishing permits, a team dinner and two full days of Kim's tuition and guidance.

Kim will be guiding for two days and extra days accommodation and solo fishing can be easily added. Fly Fishing Fishing Breaks In Wales

Other fishing breaks based at the Three Salmons in Usk will be enjoyed for the variety of fishing available on your doorstep. We have quality, stocked fisheries open year round, producing excellent trout fishing. The River Usk is 200 metres from the hotel and Brown trout day permits are just £12.50 per day and are bought locally. We are able to offer a guiding and tuition service with sufficient notice.

For a similar price, why not try Llandegfedd Reservoir 01291 673722, a 425 acre rainbow trout water only 10 minutes away by car, where boats are also available for hire. On a recent visit, Steve Boyle, the hotel proprietor, took 3 Rainbows to 4lb. This water is sometimes opened up for pike fishing and Gareth Edwards took a fish of over 45lbs in the nineties.

Trout Fishing Holidays to South Wales

Our favourite trout fishery is Ravensnest situated close to Tintern and only 25 minutes away by car. Steve landed 8 Rainbows to 3lb on his first visit. The fishery has two lakes, one "catch and release" and the other for "keepers". Regular stocking and day tickets from £12 ensure excellent sport on even the coldest winter's day!

Another fishery within 20 minutes of the hotel is Cwm Hedd fishery which has several trout lakes in the complex. There are novice facilities and several disabled access platforms. Fish range up to 15lb and are regularly stocked.

We can offer the opportunity to fish for salmon either on the Usk or the Wye, dependent on time of year and availability. We have access to the Bigsweir stretch of the Wye near Monmouth and a pair of rods costs around £100 for the day.
